Archer Andrew Smith has turned his passion for the sport into a new business venture which he hopes will capture Swindon's imagination.

The 47-year-old former software specialist from West Swindon gave up his previous job to concentrate on creating an archery facility covering many different archery disciplines and a retail facility as outlets for archery goods are limited.

 

“It all started about seven years ago when I went on a course with a work colleague and I just got hooked. I then helped to set up a longbow club in the Swindon area with about twenty members and now we've got nearly seventy members. It's gone from strength to strength.”

In 2009, Andrew took the plunge and set up Black Cat Archery with investment from four friends and his brother Giles. 

 

Black Cat Archery is based at Roves Farm, Sevenhampton near Swindon and offers three shooting ranges: 100m outdoor target range, woodland target range and a field archery range. Tuition is available on an individual or group basis and the facility also hosts corporate, team-building and other special events. All activities are currently by appointment only.
